her actual birthday was on a monday so we just did a little family celebration that day. we had waffles and strawberries for breakfast, one of her favorites. then, for lunch, we went and met dan at work for a picnic. we let her open one gift at lunch which was a set of yo gabba gabba figurines (one of her favorite shows). that afternoon, we played outside quite a bit because it was a beautiful day! once dan got home she got to open one more gift and then we had one of her favorite dinners...hot dogs and macaroni and cheese. for dessert we had some strawberry cake cookies with icing on top, and of course we let her blow out some candles.
my mom, mams, came that weekend and we celebrated once again. we spent all day saturday at sea world. mary claire absolutely loves it there! (we had season passes last year, and now we do once again this year.) the day before mams bought mary claire a special fishy outfit to wear for the occasion, which she was very excited about. especially the fishy pockets! surprisingly, it wasn't very busy so we were able to see just about every exhibit as well as the seal show and the shamu show.
that evening, we had friends over for a grill out/birthday party. we had burgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, fresh fruit and a fruit dip. for dessert, we had petit fours that mams and i spent quite a bit of time preparing and in my opinion turned out really cute! mary claire was the center of attention all night long, which is all it takes for her to have a great time!
all in all, it was a pretty good birthday! i was glad we didn't plan anything too involved, because i don't really think i would have been up to it with the pregnancy and all. anyway, thank you to everyone who got mary claire a gift! she loves them all i assure you! i will be posting again soon about easter and other spring time events....
p.s. only six more weeks and we will have a new addition to the family!!!
